Hi, I just discovered a new sort of game at http://www.freerice.com/index.php
You are given a vocabulary word moderately difficult, with four possible solutions. You pick one of the solutions, and, if you're right, the site's sponsors will donate ten grains of rice to feed the hungry. Sounds like a hard way to get full, but the game is rather fun.

Thanks for that Bob. Sounds very interesting and there is a good reason to play. And i can see how good my English is lol.
I heard about it somewhere else and have tried it.
I learned of this a while back and have thus far donated over 2000 grains of rice. My vocabulary level hovers around 47, for whatever that's worth. Bobby, thanks for bringing this game to the users' attention.
I am in between levels 2 and 5 myself so not very proud for my English lol. But i donnated about 300 granes so far.
Very good game and very accessible to us too.
Unfortunately, Nikos, I ate your donation for supper last night, <lol>.
Get busy, lunch is coming up!
Bob
I'm on level 20 so far.
Actually, it's 20 grains a word now, not ten. And my vocab level is somewhere around 30-37 (37, so far, is the highest I've gotten) but I'm working on it still. :D I think so far I've donated something like 2,520 grains.
And now if you click the options link you can se the computer to remember your level and donation so you don't start from a different level every time.
I was looking at the frequently asked questions and the date that they increased the ammount from 10 granes to 20 granes per correct answer was 28th of November the date of my birthday. Interesting.
What are you supposed to click on in order to start playing? That site confuses me.
Nothing. The game starts at the homepage. It says something like equality means: and then there are 4 links with 4 possible answers. You click the one you think is right. Then in the next page the game will tell you if it was right or not.
I hope it makes sence.
Nikos, it was nice of them to increase the payoff in honor of your birthday.
BTW: happy birthday late.
Bob
okay... then sounds like an interesting gmae
Yeah, I discovered thi on the audiogames.net forum awhile ago. It really is a good cause and it's moderately fun.
thank you. i'll have to look now.
It's very addicting, and my score is somewhere around thirty.
How many can you get right in a row, working on 20 now.
I don't know that there's a limit on how many you can get right in a row. the more you do get, the higher your vocab level goes, I think? I haven't played in a while, but have been eating much rice. Oye, now I feel so guilty; LOL.
Wow, this is really addicting. And I love the fact that it's for a good cause!!
Apparently 36 is the highest level because i've been on it the past 3-4 words or so. so far i've donated 240 grains of rice. not too charitable yet but getting there. i want to get to 1000 before i quit.
Okay, maybe not. I got up to level 37 but then got quite a few wrong. I have now achieved my goal of 1000 grains but my level was reduced to 28 by the time I was done. bummer. Some of those words were pretty hard though. Most of them I got through seeing them in context before or trying to associate them, rather than actually knowing their meanings. Pretty sad for a native english speaker, who almost won the school spelling bee in 7th grade. A lot of times we had to know spelling and meaning to associate them, not for the bee but for class at least. shame!
